Navigate to Felt and make a free account.
From the tutorial landing page, navigate to Home from the menu in the upper left-hand corner:
Then, click New Map in the upper right corner. Don’t forget to give your map a name!
Drag and drop your dataset from your files directly into Felt. Felt recognizes many kinds of file types, but it’s best to upload your data as a compressed .zip
file, regardless of what type it is.
In this example, I’m using the MHC Historic Inventory dataset from MassGIS. This dataset contains point and polygon features from the Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System.
Felt will then show that it is uploading and processing your file. This typically takes a moment.
When it’s done processing, your map should now be populated with your dataset (whatever that might look like!).
